Ferns & District Game Protection Association (Ferns GPA) was formed on the 01/07/1963 at a meeting held in the Castle Cinema (now the Community Centre) in Ferns.
It is an affiliated club to the National Association of Regional Game Councils (NARGC)which was founded in 1968 and is the largest voluntary organisation in Ireland involved in game shooting and conservation. The Ferns GPA club has grown steadily since its formation and it now has over 90 affiliated members making it one of the largest GPA clubs in the country.
Ferns GPA Annual Dog Trials took place on Sunday October 28th 2018.

Ferns GPA would like to congratulate all of the individuals that were honoured on October 7th 2018 by Wexford NARGC for there long service to their clubs and also to the NARGC.
We especially would like to congratulate and thank the five Ferns Members (Lockie Murphy, Tommy Murphy, Donal Behan, Pat Bolger and Tom Guinan) for all they have done over the past 55 years to make Ferns GPA one of the strongest and best clubs in the country. It is a real honour to have you members of our great club.

Ferns GPA run 4 clay pigeon shoots each year on the lands kindly given by the land owner. These are:
Ferns GPA purchase and breed birds for re-population of the club grounds.
The club holds it's annual dog trial on the last sunday before the shooting season on November 1st. Our first trophy was presented to the club by James O'Neill in 1982 and was awarded to the pointer section.
Ferns GPA hunt game such as pheasant, duck and partridge with the season starting 1st Nov.
